Effects of Prostaglandins on the Function of Reticuloendothelial System Mice

Abstract
|
|
|
This experiment was performed to evaluate the effects of prostaglandin on the function of reticuloendothelial system. Prostaglandin Fla (PGl?2a) was administered into the mice intramuscularly with dosage of 10 ug per 30 ,gym of body weight. Thereafer, the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system was measured by the Biozzi´s carbon clearance method. The results obtained were as follows ;
1. In the group A, administered PGF2a five times every other day, there was no significant difference in the phagocytic activity of reticuloendothelial system as compared with control group administered normal saline.
2. In the group B aNd C, administered PGF2a fifteen and thirty times respectively, the phagocytic activities showed marked . decreases, and the decreased extent was more prominent in the group C than group B.
3. The phagocytic activities of the group D and E, one and two month after the last administration respectively, were recorvered to normal levels.
